Responding to Stop Motion Animation Feedback

I am fairly happy with the way my stop motion animation turned out. I believe the music choice fitted well due to it being so out of place with a typical party political broadcast feel. I do however, think the animation could possibly have been longer.
This could have been achieved with utilising the idea of using speech bubbles. I did this once, but feel it would have added more to the animation if I had explored more possibilities using this method.

One thing I was rather unhappy with was that the lighting throughout the animation is fairly inconsistent. I used natural light that was coming in through the windows of the classroom. I could have controlled the lighting levels by using my own source of light such as a lamp. Shadows are therefore noticeable on the animation sequence because people were passing in between my source of light and my stage.

This is the padlet link which I provided for people to give me feedback:

A couple of people said that the background track worked well but I could have experimented using other sounds such as sound effects. I agree with this as I feel it would have given the animation a little more depth and could have added to the comedy aspect, like in many of Terry Gilliam's animations, from which I was drawing inspiration.

One person mentioned the lighting issue, addressed above. This shows me that it is noticeable and certainly detracts from the animation use of lighting which I control would certainly solve this issue.

Someone on the padlet link suggested that it was perhaps unclear as to who the second character was supposed to be. I agree that this could have been made more apparent as I realise now that my substituting party leader Nigel Farrage for a silly cut out character was only clear to me as I came up with the idea. I again think this could have been solved via the use of more speech bubbles, perhaps explaining more of a storyline and who the character was.

It was also mentioned that while everything else, such as the characters, was cut out cleanly, but the VOTE UKIP sign was simply torn so it stands out. I understand that this may have not been clear, but I would not change this because the UKIP sign was supposed to be crudely cut out as a kind of satirical symbol to the botched nature of the part, as explained in my pervious ideas generation blog.

In conclusion, if i were to re-do this animation, I would certainly alter the length and incorporate the use of speech bubbles to explain the story a little better. I would also alter my lighting so that I was not using natural light, hopefully eliminating the shadows seen on my current animation. However, I am not going to re-do my animation, so I will simply use these tips for future projects.
